Long time no blog...

Aren't the Holidays lovely!
Fun-filled, food-filled, friend and family-filled!
All of which is rather time consuming!
As is moving into a new house and getting settled. I finally seem to be mostly unpacked, and settled into my cute new apartment in South Granville, Vancouver!
But what with that and the holiday madness I haven't had a moment to blog.
I've taken some adorable pictures of my new place and as soon as I load them onto the computer I will promptly be putting together a post about it.
Also working on a video from the Road Trip.
Today I got a hair cut, shortest I've had it in years, about and inch longer than my collor-bone! eek so shocking! But it feels so much healthier and I'm liking the change from that oh-so typical and popular long-long hair look I've had for awhile.
And tonight I've been having fun getting to know my Cable PVR box thing. being able to pause, play and record tv is very cool, not gonna lie!

Posts soon to come about the new decor and the new crop!

My declaration of love to Sassy Gay Friend!

If you haven't watch the Youtube videos 'Sassy Gay Friend'. You haven't lived. Funiest thing ever. Especially if you love Shakespeare as much as I do!

Check out my favorite Video here:

Anyway a few months ago I got to go to his show at the Second City in Hollywood and I got to go up on stage! We discussed my relationship issues with men...
It was amazing and so much fun.

Here's a picture of the first time we met (BFF's at first sight!) :

And another one from tonight when I just happened to run into him outside Upright Citizens Brigade, which is in Franklin Village, just a block from my apartment. My friend Mia and I were so excited and practically screamed at him. He's so hilarious, he should get used to screaming fans asap!

So Sassy Gay Friend I love you! And you totally make me miss my sassy gay friends at home: Stefan, Forbes, Colin and many more that I love so dearly.

We also had an amazing beach and made some killer videos which I will be posting sometime too!

Wine stained lips and strawberry hair.

Even though I told myself I need to stop spending money and going shopping I seemed to have managed to buy a new winter coat and new winter makeup all in the last 24 hrs.
I needed it... ?
Seriously its cold here in Cali in the winter, and its going to be even colder and wet in Vancouver! anyway coat is super cute, black with faux fur, very rockin, very me!
And new mascara was required, and then I happened to also need new liner, so that I might actually wear some. And then I found the perfect lip liner to go with the Lanvin lipstick I got at H&M. So my winter makeup look that I'm quite excited to wear (managing I have the energy and time to put it on) will include perfectly lined mini cat eyes, and magenta lips!
Not much else to report.
Tons of packing has been underway and tomorrow Mia arrives for the Epic Journey!
I also went to see Burlesque last night, it was quite fabulous! Great makeup, and costumes were fantastic and the story/acting wasn't that bad, kinda corny but in a good way. Full to the brim of fun songs and fantastic dance numbers, which made me miss musical theatre and feel down right lazy.
also the title of this post would make a great name for a blog...
post soon with new coat pictures! And I'm sure many many pictures of Mia and I, we like to photo shoot, not gonna lie.

Little bit of a shopping adventure...

So my lovely sister in law is visiting from Vancouver for the weekend and we got up to a little too much shopping today, as well as yesterday!

So today Lanvin for H&M was released today, it was madness! But beautiful madness! It was crazy, people were trying things on everywhere and grabbing things and it wall like " last one of this, who wants it" OMG!
I got a great clutch, a beautiful lipstick and two fabric shopping bags.

Then there was Henri Bendel, also in the Beverly Center, where I finally got some beautiful Rain Boots!! So now I can survive Vancouver weather!

And then onto The Grove, where the Saturday Parking was dreadful.
First to the American Girl store to buy some fancy Christmas gifts! (and we spent so much that we got free parking for all day... yes it's that bad)

Then to Nordstrom to get fuzzy socks with faux fur on top to wear in the rubber boots!

Then to JCrew and Anthropologie where I got some more Xmas gifts and a cute bracelet at JCrew where they had an amazing sale.

....Then In-n-Out maybe happened for dinner....

So the walk from the car to the apartment was pretty epic, lots and lots of heavy bags! As soon as we got in the doors the bags hit the floor and they take up most of it, in my small apartment!

Yesterday we went to this mall called Westfield in Century City, where they have a great store called Madewell, which I have to go back and check out again, it's related to JCrew. And there also was a JCrew there, where I got my dad some fab socks for Xmas.

They also have Betsey Johnson, one of my favorites!

And they had a great food court where I had BahaFresh (sp?) anyway to-go Mexican food which is actually yummy and healthy ish.

Pictures to come of all the fun new stuff!

Tomorrow night I think I'm going to finally see HP 7 part 1. ya I'm more than a little excited about that!

Santa Monica at Sunset

I made this little video of my trip to Santa Monica to watch the sunset!

Traffic was horrible as usual so I missed the actual sun going down but caught that last little bit of beautiful light and the Pier was so amazing all lit up!

A long, long time ago...

...aka about a year ago, I started a blog. For my art and other thoughts on fashion ect!

I was in a very artsy creative phase because I wasn't doing much acting at the time and I need to have some creative endeavor/output at all times; be it a play, or acting classes, or singing lessons, or dance, or art or decorating, or a fashion obsession; I NEED creativity!

Anyway the whole blog thing didn't work out... I think I only posted 4 times and got bored, but it's still there and maybe one day I'll go back to it, but I started a new one and I like it so much more this time. I think it's because I'm more computer savvy!

For more of my art; (which I'm not working on at the moment, but I'll be getting back to it as soon as I set up an art station in my new apartment in Vancouver!) Here's a link to my Flickr account:

(and my other blog, if you have any interests in those few random posts! http://kikiandlucy.blogspot.com/)

I've actually never been a butterfly person...

I rarely use them in my art, I'm more of a bird person, LOVE birds; I should post on that...

And I'd never thought to use them in my decor, until I got these two amazing trays/boxes at Target with butterflies on them that look so vintage and awesome! note to self; post pic! And I started to think of them as being less corny and predictable as I'd thought.

I didn't even like butterfly world that much as a kid actually.

So why did I mention them in my blog title then?

I'm referring to the butteries in the stomach. That jolt! From an audition, or a great dress or a new pair of shoes, to seeing the ocean, to ridding a motorcycle or roller coaster to yes, oh yes a boy; a text, an email, a smile, a bad but good pickup line. Those kind of butterflies that you get before the cynicism sinks in and you start to doubt and judge yourself.

I love that feeling but can't always peg where it comes from or what it is. So thats I named my blog: What do you want to know about the butterflies?

as in: Do you want to know what makes my heart skip a beat?

Also butterflies are kinda pretty don't you think?

A few things that are making my heart full of exciting butterflies right now:
I bought the most beautiful new watch today and I found out that I got the apartment I applied for in Vancouver! So pumped about both!

Art Mix/Match ~ one of many to come!

This is something I really want to try in my new apartment in Vancouver. Maybe an all white on for the living room and the a more random one in the bedroom? I can't wait to experiment with it. I've already started collecting things, and have some things at home in storage that I think will fit in nicely too.

I also love the photo banner on clothespins. Something I've don't before in an 'art phase' (that's what happens when I'm not doing anything creative like a play or school I start random art projects like painting and crafting and decorating... oh look its happening now, just a few days out of school, no scenes or monologues to work on and I dive right into a new project, or several...) but instead I decorated the clothes pegs. I think it would look great with Polaroid pictures, like the ones from the camera I really want for Christmas or even regular photos turned into Polaroid style on picnik then printed on photo paper, that might work too...

Oh the decorating options!

It gets me so excited I forget its almost 12:30 so I should go to bed. I'm getting up early to go check out this new workout class at my gym called 'LA Model Body' or something. Think that just one class will show major results? Because I'm getting desperate! More posts on that another time.

Wish List

Internet shopping can be so addicting! (especially fun while watching old The Nanny re-runs at the same time!)

just a few things I think are adorable and fabulous...

Decorating...

Faced with the challenge of moving into a small studio here in LA with limited options in the way of decorating and limited means I actually did find a way to create an apartment I loved living in.
But with only one more month before I return to the Great White North, I am starting to think of ways to decorate my new place, one which I will hopefully find more permanent, though when I first moved in here I was convinced I wouldn't leave... stupid US VISA!
I have found an apartment in Vancouver in South Granville, which I;m very excited about. My mother and Sister in-law found it, after much searching for me!
I haven't seen it but they had me sold on 'claw footed tub' and 'gas stove'
Its a one-bedroom which is super exciting because it means I have a living room to decorate too!
Over the next few weeks I'll be searching for ideas and inspiration and maybe picking up a few fun things down here. I'll be going along the same idea as what I have going on here, color wise, because I'll be bringing home my turquoise chairs and the fun vintage fabrics I found.
But the new place wont have dreadful blinds, or carpet, and the walls will be white not beige, and the couch and tables will be more to my style, because they wont come with the place.
Anyway in the mean-time I'm enjoying my place here before I have to pack it all up in my car and Road Trip it home with my friend Mia, who also writes a fab blog and I will soon be posting out it and our amazing trip plans home!

Heres a little collage I made of images of my 1st apartment all to myself away from home! (ya I didn't count living in residence at University, though I did decorate it very cute, 'French' themed... I wonder if I still have pictures of that?)

First Audition!

Tonight I had my first Commercial Audition here in LA.
It was actually super fun and chill!
It was for State Farm insurance.
I found out about it on Actors Access ( http://www.actorsaccess.com/actor/) which is a great site that posts Breakdowns for auditions.
They were looking for Born and Bred Canadians, which is me!
There were 9 lines which we had to say each twice with different intention ect. And then I had to say a little bit about myself and where I was from in Canada.
I was so grateful for my audition technique class that I took at NYFA, it totally prepared me and therefore I felt so relaxed and confident.
Apparently they are only looking for 8 actors out of all the ones that auditioned today, so we'll see, but I'm happy that it went well!
Now the waiting game...

Which Rain Boots?

I've decided since I'm moving to a city where it rains constantly and leaving sunny South California that I'm going to treat myself to a truly fabulous pair of rain Boots. I have always wanted a classic pair of Hunter's like these:

Hunter 'Original Tall' High Gloss Rain Boot (Women) | Nordstrom.com

But I can't decide if I like Black or the Teal, or maybe even the Violette? I went to Nordstrom and they have the Teal and the Black, kinda wish they had red... Black would go with everything, but I do already own black motorcycle boots and black ridding boots...

Tough call.

Then I discovered these beautiful ones in the November Instyle from Calvin Klein:

I love how they are both a Rain Boot and a Ridding Boot.

I guess I'll have to try them both on and decide...

The hunter may be more lasting, they are just so classic, but the Calvin ones are very unique.

Thoughts?
